And if I ls, I do have indeed the f file just here. Another simpler way to do that is to use touch. Le'ts try touch file and Enter. It will just create an empty file just here. If I double click file, it will open in the code editor without anything because it's an empty file. Right, let's go back to the file browser. How do I delete that file? Oh, first, let's try to list (ls). And indeed, we can see that we have the file also. So to delete the file is remove with rm, rm, and the name the file. rm file, OK. rm f, OK. And if I list, I don't have these files anymore. They are completely deleted. Let's try to create a file with a space in the name. touch my space file, Enter. Oh, and as you can see in the file browser, I have two files : the file my and file file. If I list here, I have the file file, the file my. So if I list with the option -l, I'm going to have a more detailed list. And you can see that, indeed, that we have two lines, one for the file file and one for the file my. So if you create a file with a name containing spaces, you have to be very careful because it creates two files. So let's remove file. Let's remove my. All right, and let's try to create that file with a space in it. To do that, I'm going to use the backslash. So touch my\ file And this will create, indeed, a file that is named my space file. And if I ls that, it's quite difficult to see that my and file are one single file. But if you list with ls minus l or dash l with a more detailed one, you can see only one line for my file. So indeed, it is a file with a space in it. And if I am to remove it, it's the same way. So remove rm And then I have to do my, my\ file. And it just deleted the file. All right, well, you can also use single quotes. So touch single quote my space file and close the single quote. touch 'my file' And it will create the my file file. And if you want to remove, you do the same, rm single quote my space file single quote. And it will remove the file. All right. Also, sometimes if you are trying to write something with a single quote, and you just type by mistake the Enter key, and here you have something happening. It looks like a command line prompt. But it's not because it starts with a greater than sign. And if you try to do something like ls, it won't do anything. If you try Control c, it won't do anything. quit, exit, q, and you are stuck inside. So sometimes you will have to find a way to get unstuck from this kind of situation. Here, the situation is that you started to write a name. And here, it is reading all the names. And even if you type the Enter key, it will be part of the name, actually. So here, the name of the file that you want to remove is a new line ls, a new line quit, new line exit, new line q, new line. And to finish the name, you have to close the single quote. So I close the single quote, type Enter, and, indeed, it will say I can't remove that very long file just here because there is no such file or directory, the file that I just named with all the new lines inside the name. So anyway, it works the same if you type the parentheses. So opening parentheses, and then Enter, and you are stuck in the same way like this. So you have to enter the closing parenthesis. Enter. And it will do the same with double quotes. If you open a double quote, then you will have the same thing happening. And you have to close the double quote, and also the brackets. So if I type bracket like this, curly bracket, well, I will have to close it like this. Also, I will show you another way to get unstuck from this situation. Let's try something, rm. I want to remove a file. And then I enter the enter key by mistake. And I want to get out of this situation. Well, you can find the character that is at the beginning of this situation, or you can type Control D. And Control D will say this is the end of the reading of the name of the input, something like that. Sometimes you will have to type twice the Control D. So let's try it, rm single quote, and then Control D. And then it works. Let's try double quote, Enter, Control D. It works. And let's try rm single quote, and then I typed something. And by mistake-- all right-- I just enter the Enter key. So I try to type something else. And then Control D, it doesn't do anything because it has to be in a new line. So I have to push twice Control D if I just wrote something in this line. So a second time, Control D. It doesn't do anything. So type Enter Control D. All right, and this time it works. So sometimes Control D will work. But you have to push the Enter. You have to have a new line. So sometimes you have to also try control D twice and Control C won't work. So anyway, it's better not to use spaces in file names. So you can use, for example, the underscore. So my file would be my_file. And that way it's simpler because even with the ls, you will see that this is the name of one file. And indeed, if I list with ls -l, you can see only one file. And I can remove it using my_file, and Enter.
